NASHVILLE, TN – July 2025 — The Kansas & 38 Special Summer 2025 Tour didn’t just bring timeless rock anthems to fans across the nation—it delivered a jaw-dropping visual experience powered by Bandit Lites’ equipment, precise programming, and a seasoned production team dedicated to elevating every performance.

Kansas Production Manager Chad Singer and Lighting Designer/Director Scott Pearson led the charge for Kansas’s headlining production, crafting a lighting design that was both elegant and powerful—evoking the band’s rich musical legacy with a visual style that felt fresh and modern. Supporting the execution night after night was Lighting Tech Jason Healy, ensuring precision and consistency at every show.

When asked about his experience working with Bandit Lites, Pearson said,

“The team at Bandit, from the first phone call for a show concept to the First cue of the show has been nothing short of the ultimate in professionalism. If there’s ever an issue, solutions are quick to follow.”

Later adding, “We’ve been trusting Bandit for almost ten years, and we look forward to the next ten!”

For 38 Special, Production Manager and Lighting Designer/Director Noah Hungerford took the reins, delivering a muscular, hard-hitting visual show packed with vibrant colors, rapid transitions, and bold silhouettes that matched the Southern rock band’s explosive energy.

Together, these teams curated a lighting design that elevated every moment—whether during a soaring ballad or a guitar-driven rocker.

Hungerford gave some insight into the gear and setup lighting the stage.

“Pretty comprehensive, yet simple 3-truss rig (plus backdrop truss): washes, spots, and blinders all around (GLP X4s, MAC Vipers, and Elations CuePix WW2s). The mid and upstage trusses also hinge down at the end(s) a couple of feet, giving a little shape to the system. This flown rig does most of the heavy lifting for both bands; not new tech, but tried and trusted gear with good saturation and reliability.” Hungerford said.

Just some of the gear used night after night featured a powerful mix of fixtures that created a high-impact environment:

  • 33 GLP X4 RGBW
  • 18 Martin MAC Viper Profile
  • 7 Elation DTW Blinder 350 IP
  • 7 Elation SixPar 100
  • 12 – 10’ Tyler GT Truss
  • 4 – 8’ Tyler GT Truss
  • 5 – 12” x 10’ Truss

The tour also made heavy use of hazers, additional moving lights, and a robust network of control and power distribution systems—all optimized for rapid setup and teardown across a packed multi-city schedule.

The tour, which launched in mid-June and will conclude in late summer, was a celebration of legacy and longevity featuring the two rock legends. Select dates featured additional performances by Jefferson Starship, The Outlaws, and Dave Mason. But beyond the setlists of classic hits like “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Hold On Loosely,” fans were treated to a stunning, coordinated light show that turned every venue into a visually immersive rock cathedral.

Together, the lighting and visual production did more than frame the bands—they told the story of two enduring musical forces celebrating decades of hits, resilience, and rock & roll culture.

The result? A tour that looked just as iconic as it sounded.
